Searching for Happiness? Know your Heart.

“Devote yourself to what gives you meaning.”- Morrie Swartz

I have a question for you today. Do you love what you do now?

If your answer is Yes, that is great! I am happy for you!

But if your answer is NO, then why do you do it? For whatever reasons you may have, I want you to consider deeply if it is worth sacrificing your chance to live a happier life.

I believe that God has bestowed upon each one of us talents and abilities. It is our duty to unlock, develop and utilize them. If we love something and we have the talent and the ability to do it, then we owe it to ourselves to pursue it. If we are scared to move out of our comfort zones, then we are compromising our chance to truly live a joyful life.

We only have one life. I think that the best way to live it is by doing the things that give us fulfillment, purpose, and satisfaction.

I like how Barbara Sheer put it: “Happy people have two things in common. They know exactly what they want and they feel they’re moving toward getting it. That’s what makes life feel good: when it has direction, when you are heading straight for what you love.”

In decision-making, it is not always wise to think logically. Sometimes, in order to live a happier life, we must learn to listen to what our hearts say. Remember: Where your heart is, that’s where your treasure would be!  If you don’t trust me, I’m sure the internet could provide you a list of inspiring people who followed their passions and found amazing success!:)

The LOVE Freeware

Hello all!

I hope that everybody is having a fine week so far. I have a video in mind that I wanted to share with you today, but I incidentally came across this one and I really like it- so I decided to share this today instead.

The conversation that you’re about to read or watch is taken from the book of Praveen Verma entitled “Softwares of Positive Thinking.”  I really hope that you’ll  like it and more importantly, I hope that it will move you to assess your life especially your relationships with the people that are close to you.

P.S. The slides are a little fast, so I wrote down the conversation below. Here you go… 🙂

God’s Rep: May I help you?

Customer: I have this new program. I’m not very technical, but I think I am ready to install it now. What do I do first?

God’s Rep: The first step is to open your HEART. Have you located your HEART?

Customer: Yes I have, but there are several programs running right now. Is it okay to install while they are running?

God’s Rep: What programs are running?

Customer: Let me see… I have PASTHURT.EXE, LOWESTEEM.EXE. GRUDGE.EXE, and RESENTMENT.COM running right now.

God’s Rep: No problem. LOVE will automatically erase PASTHURT.EXE from your current operating system. It may remain in your permanent memory, but it will no longer disrupt other programs. LOVE will eventually overwrite LOWESTEEM.EXE with a module of it’s own called HIGHESTEEM.EXE. However, you have to completely turn off GRUDGE.EXE and RESENTMENT.COM. Those programs prevent LOVE from being properly installed.

Customer: I don’t know how to turn them off. Can you tell me how?

God’s Rep: My pleasure. Go to your Start menu and invoke FORGIVENESS.EXE. Do this as many times as necessary until GRUDGE.EXE and RESENTMENT.COM have been completely erased.

Customer: Okay, I’m done. LOVE has started installing itself automatically. Is that normal?

God’s Rep: Yes it is. You should receive a message that says it will reinstall for the life of your HEART. Do you see that message?

Customer: Yes I do. Is it completely installed?

God’s Rep: Yes, but remember that you have only the base program. You need to begin connecting to other HEART’s in order to get the upgrades.

Customer: Oops. I have an error message already. What should I do?

God’s Rep: What does the message say?

Customer: It says “ERROR 412 PROGRAM NOT RUN ON INTERNAL COMPONENTS.” What does that mean?

God’s Rep: Don’t worry. That’s a common problem. It means that the LOVE program is set-up to run on external HEARTS but has not yet been run on your HEART. It is one of those complicated programming things, but in non-technical terms it means you have to “LOVE” your own machine before it can “LOVE” others.

Customer: So what should I do?

God’s Rep: Can you find the directory called “SELF-ACCEPTANCE”?

Customer: Yes, I have it.

God’s Rep: Excellent, you are getting good at this.

Customer: Thank you… Got it. Hey! My HEART is filling-up with really neat files. SMILE.MPG is playing on my monitor right now, and it shows that WARMTH.COM, PEACE.EXE, and CONTENTMENT.COM are copying themselves all over my HEART!

God’s Rep: Then LOVE is installed and running. You should be able to handle it from here. One more thing before I go.

Customer: Yes?

God’s Rep: LOVE is a freeware. Be sure to give it and its various modules to everybody you meet. They will in turn share it with other people and they will return some really neat modules back to you.

Customer: I will. Thank you for your help.

Why We Should Not Settle

Some of us want so much more in life- we want more money. We want a bigger house. We want to a better job. We want to have more time with loved ones. We want to have more time to do the things that we’re passionate about. BUT WE SETTLE WITH WHAT WE ALREADY HAVE.

Why? Probably because we are afraid of the unknown- we do not know for sure what’s going to happen when we take risks- we might even lose what we already have. OR possibly because we’re afraid to fail. Why suffer the blow of failure and hurt our self-esteem, right? OR perhaps we’re thinking, why ask for more when “this” is already working? OR maybe we have simply won in making ourselves believe that it is impossible to dream big and realize it.

I tell you what- the world offers abundance of possibilities and God wants you to have those.

“And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.” (2 Corinthians 9:8)

Sadly, not many people is are able to enjoy these possibilities because some of us are not courageous enough to try and seek out our dreams. Only the people with enough courage, and only those who are not afraid to take risks, get to experience these possibilities. Only the people who get out of their comfort zones and are willing to embrace failures will experience more success and happiness. You will never know how much you can get from this world if you do not dream and work hard for your dream.

If you are not satisfied with your life now, it is time to create your new story and start living it. No one else is holding you back but yourself.

  • Don’t focus on what you do not have. Focus on what you have and work on that. Master your gift to unleash your potential, and you’ll be amaze to find out how much you can do.
  • Use people. Ask help from those who have been there. Get assistance from people who are expert on the field. Get yourself a good mentor who inspires you. Whether you like it or not, you will need the help of others.
  • Make time to do that one thing that you love. One day you might wake up and realize it may be too late for you to pursue your dream or passion.
  • Don’t be afraid to fail. As Paulo Coelho so aptly wrote, “When you find your path, you must not be afraid. You need to have sufficient courage to make mistakes. Disappointment, defeat, and despair are the tools God uses to show us the way.”
  • Listen to your heart. I love how Steve Jobs put it, “Don’t let the noise of other opinions drown your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition, they somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” I could not agree more.

Remember, you are the author of your own life. You can always change your story. You are the driver of your life. You can always change your route. Your future depends solely on the decisions and actions that you make now.
