Free Yourself from Fear!

Forget Everything And Run, or Face Everything And Rise. It’s YOUR Choice!”- Anonymous

There are times in my life when I am scared to try a new thing just because I can’t imagine myself failing, even if I know deep inside me that I am going to be good at that certain thing. There are moments when I second-guess myself and doubt my own capabilities, fearing that I may badly hurt my self-esteem and may not recover from the blow.

However, I realized that whenever I do that— whenever I allow my fears to dictate my decisions and actions, I would only be wasting opportunities.  I would be throwing away my chances to succeed and thrive.

Fear is an illusion that our minds create to protect us from danger; but we should not allow it to disable us. Fear is NOT real.

So let us make the choice to overcome our fears and start believing that we can! If we fail, it is okay. WE CAN ALWAYS TRY AGAIN. Enjoy life everyone! =)

Are you “Iffy Happy”?

“Happiness is a choice, not a result. Nothing will make you happy until you choose to be happy…”- Ralph Marston

When I was younger, I used to be “iffy” with my happiness.

I’d be happy if I’d get myself a gorgeous boyfriend…
I’d be happy if I’d get more allowance…
I’d be happy if I could buy that pretty dress…
I’d be happy if I’d get accepted to this university…

And I don’t think I was any different from other people who seemed to be setting a high  standard for happiness.

Those who think that they’d be happy
if they’d get more popular
if they’d get a bigger house
if they’d get a fatter wallet
if they’d get a higher position in their jobs
if they’d get better-looking
if they’d get themselves spouses who’d always put them first

We become unhappy because we set impossible rules to experience happiness. We make it sooo darn difficult for ourselves to achieve.

I am very grateful to have started my blog. I wasn’t a happy person then, but I decided and choose to be one. This is also the reason why I named it “thehappylife”- because that is the kind of life that I want to have.

Can I tell you a secret? I find it easy to be happy because I make my conditions to be happy really simple. I could give you 5 reasons why I am happy today.

#1- I woke up with my husband besides me.
#2- I get to kiss & hug my daughter goodbye when she left for school
#3- I get to have a heart to heart talk with our maid- where she has confided in me her personal problems and I was able to comfort her.
#4- I was able to come to work on time, and enjoyed a meeting with our boss, and some other colleagues over a good coffee. 🙂
#5- I could feel my heart beat in my chest and I can smile

…and believe me when I say I could go on and on…

What are your pre-requisites for happiness? Are you sure they’re not too complicated that you’ll never get to be happy at all?

Life is short. Enjoy it. Be grateful and you’ll find more reasons to be happy! 🙂

Are Happy People REAL?

“Happiness depends upon ourselves.”- Aristotle

A lot of people do not believe that someone can really be happy because of some misconceptions. Others believe that the people who claim to be happy are in fact the miserable people in real life. (Ouchy! Does this mean that happy people are fake?) Others also think that happy people are living in “dream-land” or living in their fantasy world. (It is like saying that happiness is not real! If that’s the case, what a sad sad world this is that we’re living in…) And there are others who see happy people as weak people who pretend to be “happy” as a coping mechanism, because they cannot come to terms with the harsh reality of the world. (My goodness! How did this happen?).

I tell you why I believe that someone can truly be happy.

…Because Happy People can be sad, too.

Contrary to the belief that happy people are always on a good disposition, the reality is happy people also experience sadness, hurt, grief or even anger. The only difference is that they welcome these emotions, allow themselves to feel them, but choose not to dwell too much on them. They know when to “let go” of these emotions. They know that they have the power over them, and not the other way around.

…Because Happy People live in the same world where unhappy people live in, only they have different perspectives.

Unhappy people are used to only notice the negative things in life. The happy people choose to focus more on the good things that are happening. They are grateful for what they have that is why they know that they have a lot. They also know that challenges and obstacles happen, but what they see are the opportunities!

…Because Happy People are the Kind and  Forgiving people.

For some people, Kindness and Forgiveness are not always easy to give. But being kind and being able to forgive others and ones self are uplifting and relieving. Happy people do not have difficulty in showing kindness and in giving and accepting forgiveness.

So you see, being happy is not an illusion. It’s a matter of perspective. It’s a matter of choice.

I wish everyone a happy week ahead! I hope that you choose to be happy! 🙂
