Matters of the Heart

POST TITLE: Autumn Leaves and Forgiveness

“So now the time had arrived…

Thank you anxiety, you showed me how to control my fear,
Thank you inadequacy, you showed me I AM enough,
Thank you over-sensitivity, you showed me how to feel for others,
Thank you worry, you showed me greater peace,
Thank you emotions, you showed me to release my fear of vulnerability,
Thank you solitude, you showed me how to listen to my deepest spirit callings,
Thank you pain, you slowed me down long enough for my heart to catch up,
Thank you, ‘too quiet’, you showed me how to listen,
Thank you jealousy, you showed me what’s important to me,
Thank you ‘day-dreamer’, you showed me the possibilities,
Thank you fear, you showed me how to push through my doubts,
Thank you inferiority, you showed me we are all equal, and all worthy of LOVE,
Thank you self-criticism, you showed me the way ahead can only be LOVE for myself.

May we find forgiveness in our lack of unconditional love towards ourselves.”

Let’s Plant Life Seeds!- Seed#1:DREAM

There are 5 things things in life that we know are important, but do not treat with much importance. You see, simply knowing is useless until what we know is applied and manifested in our behavior or actions.

Let me give you 2 simple facts:

1. OUR TIME ON EARTH IS LIMITED. The average life expectancy of a person is 78.8 years according to CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention)

Some people would see our life as a book, and we’re the authors.
For this time, I want us to picture our life as a garden and we’re the gardeners planting the seeds that we will reap later in our life.

For today, let’s talk about the first seed that we need to plant and I hope that you will ponder on it like I do. 🙂

“For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you” -Jeremiah 29:11

I want to believe that God did not put us here on earth merely to exist. We have a purpose. And this purpose in embedded to us when we were born. Aren’t you wondering sometimes why people should have different personalities, interests & skills? Unlike other living creatures, we are the only ones who have unique preferences and potentials. Could they be clues to God’s plan for us? Could they be the hints to our purpose?

What is your Dream?
What skills are you good at that you also love doing?
How will you profit and how can you serve others with that dream?

I know I love to write.
And I also think that I have a skill in writing (please let me know otherwise so I’d immediately kill my delusion of becoming a writer right away!)
How will I profit from it? On the financial aspect, I do not know yet- but I know that it makes me happy, it nourishes my soul, it uplifts my spirit, and it also helps with my mental health.

When I started this blog, I planted my dream seed.

I also have a more personal dream. I dream of a happy family.
I want to stay in-love with my husband.
I want to have a closer connection with my daughter.
I want to have a close relationship with our family (our parents & siblings).

And so I plant seeds for this dream. From a simple ritual to making sure to kiss & hug to spending quality time- one on one and as a family.  We’re not a perfect family (believe me when I say we do have our fare share of disagreements and fights) but we  do our best to do daily acts of love and have fun together.

I read from a book that “If you want to keep your family home, make it a happy home.”

What are your dreams and heart’s desires? What do you do or have done to make it your reality?

Hello Everyone!

It’s February- the Love Month!
Hopefully, topics about LOVE will not appear to be cheesy and corny at this time (crossing my fingers!).

Well, I wish to still be able to deliver interesting posts to you, my dear readers, even if I intend to focus more on the subject of love this month.

For today, I want to share with you a short conversation I had with my (then 4-yr old) daughter some time ago on love…

Gaby: Mommy, you love Papa.
Me: Ah-huh…
Gaby: Yes, because you married each other (her index finger pointing to our wedding photo). So you love him.
Me: Okay…
Gaby: Mommy, love is when your hearts are together.

I don’t know how my daughter came up with her smart definition but I would agree. Love is not something that we keep to ourselves- it is meant to be shared with someone else. It’s loving others and allowing them to love you back. It is indeed a sense of “togetherness.”

How about you? I would love to know what the word means to you. 🙂

Why Failure is our Friend

FAILURE. We don’t like it. We avoid it. We hate it.

People do not like failure because of 2 things- It hurts and  it makes us feel bad about ourselves.

However, if we will shift our paradigm, we will see that failure is our friend.

Like a true friend…

failure makes us aware where we need to improve.

Failure points out our mistakes and weak points. It lets us know our areas for improvement. Every time we fail, we always learn something new from it.

failure tells us that we need to do better.

Whenever we fail, how sure are we that we have given our 100% on it? It may be hard to admit, but in my case, I usually fail when I do not give my all. Failure tells us not to settle on mediocrity. We should always exert our best efforts in everything that  we do!

failure makes us stronger.

Most successful people experienced a lot of failures in their lives before becoming successful. What makes them different is how they managed to stand again and chose not to give up. As a quote says, “the one who falls and gets up is so much stronger than the one that never fell.

failure lets us realize how much we want something.

If we dream or desire something and we fail trying to achieve it, are we going to persevere and try again? or will we just forget about it?

If we want something that much, we’ll keep pushing ourselves towards it. But if we fail and let go of that dream immediately, then perhaps it really didn’t mean that much to us after all.

failure tells us if something is not for us.

After numerous attempts and giving it our best shots, but still end up being unsuccessful, then perhaps it is not really for us. This is the time to consider other options and focus on the other things that we can do and excel into. Failure tells us we should try to discover and utilize our other potentials.

Always remember, it is better to fail than to never have tried at all. We can always be more than our failures! 🙂

Excuse me…I think that is mine.

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone of you ever experienced having your article copied and posted on another website, yet you weren’t given credit for it?

I have written an article last September and I saw it posted on another website the other day- every word copied and even the same picture was used. I feel flattered if the person liked my article that much, and I appreciate him for sharing it… but I still think it is just proper to give due credit to the source, wouldn’t you agree?

Well, I could not send an email to the person who owns the blog as there is no “Contact” on the menu, so I left a comment on “my” post in his blog saying this instead:

I did got a reply, but I still do not see the proper credits as of today.

I’ve seen more posts published on his site after this incident, and it would not have taken 10 minutes for the person to put the credit. So now I am doubting if he even intends to do so. I didn’t want to accuse him of plagiarism, but it definitely is the case if he does nothing to fix this.

I would be interested to know what you think or you’d do if you were on my shoes.

Nina 🙂
