“If you want to be happy, set a goal that commands your thoughts, liberates your energy and inspires your hopes.” — Andrew Carnegie
We set goals for ourselves. We get excited and enthusiastically do the things to achieve that goal for the first few months (or weeks); then we missed and forget every once in a while; until the occasional forgetting becomes permanently not doing anything to achieve that goal anymore. This is what happens usually, and the reason for most of us not achieving our goals.
So what can we do to avoid falling into this trap? I say we should MARRY OUR GOALS.
- BE COMMITTED. Make our goals a part of who we are by incorporating it to our habits.
- BE FAITHFUL. Our goals should not be something that we can just give up. We should stick to them whether in times of difficulties (or failures) and triumphs.
- BE PASSIONATE ABOUT IT. We should not settle for mediocrity. We should always strive for improvement in our performance.
- LEARN TO COMPROMISE. We should know how to prioritize. Let go of other stuffs that prevents us from progressing towards the achievement of our goals.
- INVEST TIME AND ENERGY. We reap what we sow. If we do not invest, we can expect nothing in return.
So, when do you want to get married? 🙂

Thanks Nikki! I agree, compromising is one of the most difficult things to do…especially if you enjoy, care a lot, love or you’re really used to the things that you have to compromise…but that’s one of the challenges to better our lives! 😊

Loved these points, they’re all so true. Staying committed is a big one for me as Im re-launching my YouTube channel and I know its going to take alot of work and to build it. That being said I love filming and photography and Im ready to get back into it! Dont know about the marriage though 😉 Great post. -Steph (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAlB5cFM_T6-cYj3HIsyFAw/about)

All important steps Nina, being faithful is really important because it’s inevitable that we’ll hit a wall where we would want to quit. Having faith will help us to fight through the hard times.

What a wonderful way of looking at our goals. If I am not determined to be committed, faithful, have passion, willing to compromise, and put forth time and energy then I have no reason to follow that goal.

Thank you Heather! I’ve read your post. S.M.A.R.T. goals really helps. I think most people failnin achieving their goals because oftentimes, they’re too broad and not time-bound. I want to lose weight next year is vague VS I want to lose 2lbs each week and shed 8lbs per month. 😉
