Be the Master of Your Emotions

Hello Everyone! 🙂

Let’s do something fun today!

I read this very inspiring quote from Og Mandino  and I thought why not make a good exercise out of it and make it our inspiration for the day!

So, I’ve deleted the end of the phrases and put my own answers. 🙂

How do I change?

If I feel depressed I will offer some time to help others.

If I feel sad I will think of happy times and smile.

If I feel ill I will put on my best clothes (and sneakers! yeah!).

If I feel fear I will pretend to be secret superhero =P

If I feel inferior I will remind myself that I know some things that others most likely do not know.

If I feel uncertain I will fake it ’til I make it.

If I feel poverty I will trust in the Lord’s providence and let go of worries.

If I feel incompetent I will remind myself of my past achievements especially for THAT one time (sorry guys, I’ll keep it my little secret for now =)

If I feel insignificant I will think of people who have appreciated me for showing them kindness at certain points in their lives.

Today I will be the master of my emotions.

I had a really fun time doing this! Now it’s your turn to fill-in the blanks. I hope you’ll enjoy as much as I did and more importantly, remind yourself to be the Master of Your Emotions today!

  1. It was fun to read your responses to the end of these quotes. It helps to personalize things in one’s life to fill in our own answer to things like this. It also helps with scripture. One example would be (John 3:16). We can say “For God so loved (Steve) that he gave his one and only Son, that (if he) believes in him (Steve) shall not perish but have eternal life.”

And I do believe in Jesus Christ as the Savior!

      1. I agree! One good thing that I really like about blogging is that people from different side of the globe help and inspire each other in our own little way. 🙂

      2. You kind of hit on one reason I blog. This is my ministry for the Lord…reaching out to the world to help encourage and spread the word of God! So many need to hear the gospel message, Nina…

      3. Yes, I too think that blogging is a great way to “make disciples.” It is also my goal to share God with the people who gets to visit my blog, and I do that by including Him on my posts. I’m new to it, but I pray that He’ll guide me through it. 🙂

      4. He will guide you, Nina, as long as you seek Him with a sincere heart. Blogging about the Lord helps to encourage many people who already love Him, which is another command from our Lord…”A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so also you must love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.”
        (John 13:34-35).

  2. OK! I’ll do your 1st three. POWER comes in 3’s.

    1) If I feel depressed…I will go upstairs and smell one of my essential oil scents. They allow me to get out of my feelings, and just breathe in and out for a few minutes. Very calming!

    2) If I feel sad, I will dance to several of my favorite tunes. Obviously, I have some pent up energy I need to get rid of f-a-s-t!

    3) If I feel ill, I will get up anyway, give thanks for being on the mend, and get downstairs and feed the pets, do the kitchen floor, wipe the counters, and make my breakfast. My Mother always told me: “You don’t feel any better laying in bed, so change your state, and see how you feel.” I may not feel better, but I rarely feel any worse!

    1. Hi Sparkyjen!

Thank you for sharing. I appreciate that you took the time to try my little exercises. 🙂
These are all great tips. I like all of them. Your #1 is really inviting. I want to do that even if I don’t feel depressed. 🙂 I also agree with your #2 option. Dancing is a form of exercise and it definitely boosts the positive hormones! AND I will keep in mind your mother’s advise in #3. Thank you again for taking the time to share. 🙂

      1. I really don’t spend a lot of time, if any, feeling depressed or sad. But if I did, I would hasten to “un” these two. Ill happens on occasion, but I deal with it as it comes. It’s a matter of survival. Living well feels so much better. Highest and Best!
