It’s Not Hard to be Happy after all!

“There were two ways to be happy: Improve your reality or lower your expectations.” – Jodi Picoult

Many people are so unhappy because their perception of Happiness is that it is something big. It is so big that they need to really work hard for it in order to achieve it. For instance, they believe that they will be happy if they get promoted on their jobs, if they will have more money, if they become more famous or successful, etc.

Most of us fail to realize that happiness do not have to be about the big things. It could be found even in small pleasures… Think of the joy you feel whenever your kids hug you… Remember how it feels when your partner kisses and embraces you as a sign of love. Think of the delicious meal that your mother cooks you everyday… The laughter shared with your friends…Think of how lucky you are that nobody is hating you now…

How about the fact that you have a shelter and get to eat complete meals, or that you are healthy and not counting your days on earth?…Aren’t you glad that you have the ability to see wonderful things, or listen to beautiful music or that you are able to express your thoughts?

My friends, happiness is not about the big things. As Ann Brashers puts it, “…Maybe it (happiness) was about stringing together a bunch of small pleasures.”

Appreciate what you have in your life, and I guarantee you will live happier. 🙂

  1. Happiness is about stringing together a bunch of small pleasures…

I love that line! And it’s so true, if you think about it. It doesn’t need to be one big happy event…lots of wonderful little moments all put together really add up, big time. 🙂
